Plan for the next 12 years. Explore the guidelines for managing Krakow’s historic centre
45 years after the inscription of the medieval city of Krakow, the Wawel Hill complex and Kazimierz with Stradom on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the City worked on detailed guidelines for the previously developed “UNESCO World Heritage Site Management Plan for the Historic Centre of Krakow.”
The Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage requires each listed site to have an efficient management system that both preserves its outstanding universal value and allows for long-term sustainable development. By adopting the Convention, we committed to ensuring the protection, conservation, regeneration and promotion of the town centre as a place of special interest.
The document adopted by the Krakow City Council in December 2023 summarises the most important challenges and priorities related to the protection and management of the historic centre inscribed on the UNESCO list. On the Krakow Heritage portal we are pleased to present it to you in its entirety, in Polish and English.
